There is a comprehensive road network covering Jamaica, though only around a third of it is of a good quality, with the rest either poorer or just plain bad. Public transport comes in the form of cheap and cheerful, but horribly overcrowded and unreliable buses, reasonably priced but terrifying to drive in private minibuses and fixed rate, reliable taxis. Make sure to only use official taxis, mind. Rail services in the country were put on hold in the mid-nineties, and have yet to resume. Internal flights are available to smaller airports across the country, but services are very expensive – especially when compared to prices of other transport – and unless in a real hurry, other methods of getting there are probably best. There are a number of seafaring options available to get around the country, from hitching a ride on a fishing boat to any number of scheduled passenger ships and tour boats. Costs vary, but can be very cheap indeed, and it is certainly an interesting way of getting around. Car Hire: http://www.argusrentals.com http://avis.com/ www.hertz.com
